Facebook Attempts to Outbid Signal in Using Their Own Keyword

Facebook Takes on Signal

Facebook vs Signal: An App Store Bidding War

You won’t be surprised to see Facebook’s Messenger app suggested at the top of your search results when looking to leave the platform for Signal. That’s because the tech giant has begun pouring money into having their ads targeted to you.

After a recent policy change in WhatsApp’s terms of use, many users are looking to leave the platform in hopes of preventing their data from being shared with its parent company Facebook.

“Our updated Terms and Privacy Policy provide more information on how we process your data, and our commitment to privacy,” WhatsApp wrote on Monday. “As part of the Facebook Companies, WhatsApp partners with Facebook to offer experiences and integrations across Facebook’s family of apps and products.”

Signal, a company founded in 2013, has been gaining serious traction these past few months as the topic of user data and privacy has become a hot topic. The up-and-coming company takes great pride in holding onto none of their users’ data. Encryption exists end-to-end. Meaning that they couldn’t peek into your conversations even if they wanted to.

Doesn’t that sound like how things should be everywhere?

We think so.
